“I do all my own stunts”

(Ella’s T-shirt slogan is the title of this post)

Well, it isn’t the most elaborate Halloween costume ever, but the little band-aid on Ella’s forehead just brings it all together. Call her a skater, call her a mosh-pit jumper, or even a stuntwoman — anyway you look at her, she’s a cutie.

And you gotta love the 6-kid stroller they have at daycare. Wait a minute, I take it back — Johnny Unitas there in the back row doesn’t appear to be having a great time. Ella’s not smiling either, but that’s just her “serious daredevil” face we asked her to show.

(Actually, I can’t blame Ella for not being thrilled — the daycare Halloween parade was on its 38th lap around the lobby of the Federal Building.)

Catching up with Ella

It’s been a busy month or so since Ella turned 1 year old. We just got back from a short weekend trip up the Great River Road to Grafton, Illinois. Ella’s favorite part of the trip was definitely seeing the pumpkins at Eckert’s Orchard.

“Hey! These things come in a baby size, like me!”

“This pumpkin is BIGGER than me, but not nearly as cute!”

“I just loved this giant stuffed eagle right out on Main Street. Mommy says we can come back this winter and see the real thing.”

Before the end of September, Ella saw her first Cardinals game in person. The weather was perfect, and we had a blast — even though the Houston Astros did that night, too.

“I’ve never seen so much red clothing in my life!”

“And here I am starting the WAVE!” (You try telling her that the Cardinals were already mathematically eliminated.)
